When I drove past Sze-Chuan I was never sure what to make of it. the walls tilt in and the windows tilt out giving it the appearance of a Star Wars landing bunker on Endor. Inside it throws you further off-guard by taking on a grotto theme. the textured cave like walls and low ceilings are kind of odd.
The food seems to be pretty standard American-Chinese, is pretty tasty and comes with some extras. I enjoyed it, but seemingly there was a bit of irony in the fact that the experience up to the food was so quirky but the food was run-of-the-mill.
What puts Sze-Chuan into the 3 star instead of the four star range is that the place as a whole was a little dingy and could of used a bit of cleaning and some fresh paint. It wasn’t bad enough to put me off eating but it was noticeable enough. That and the run of the mill food, portions were large (enough to bring some home) but I have had better.
